LOWER NAZARETH TOWNSHIP., Pa -

A man who shoplifted a portable spa from a department store is in hot water with the law, officials said.

They report Isaiah M. Martinez walked out of the Walmart at 3722 Easton-Nazareth Highway, Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County, without paying for the spa and a vacuum cleaner worth a total of $673.88 at about 7:30 p.m. June 11.

Police determined Martinez was the shoplifter by tracing the license plate number of the silver Nissan he drove off in. The car belongs to his girlfriend, who told police Martinez had the car at the time of the theft.

Martinez, 24, of 203 East Center St., Nazareth, was arraigned Monday night on a retail theft charge and released on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 22.
