Man who shoplifted Japanese anime DVD collection also caught with drugs, police say

A man who stole a Japanese anime DVD collection from a mall video store is in more trouble with the law officials said.

Doug Henderson was seen throwing the "Dragon Ball GT" DVD collection to the ground outside the entrance to the Palmer Park Mall, 2455 Park Ave., Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., around 2 p.m. Saturday, after he  set off an alarm as he walked out of the mall's FYE store, officials said.

The DVD collection was worth $34.99, officials noted.

When police searched Henderson, they found a baggie filled with marijuana, officials said.

Henderson, 19, of 690 South Main St., Phillipsburg, Warren Co., N.J., was arraigned on drug possession and retail theft charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $2,500 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 27.
