Man running marathon; money raised to help build church in Haiti

A Berks County man will be pounding the pavement this weekend to help Haiti.
Mark Gilette and the West Lawn United Methodist Church have been helping orphans in Haiti even before an earthquake devastated the country in 2010.
Gilette will run the Steamtown Marathon in Scranton on Sunday. He's trying to raise $60,000 to build a church in Haiti.
"The church is the agent for change in Haiti," Gilette said. "There's no government, not a functioning government, so in order to get people's basic needs met, we need someplace for them to go to get food and clothing."
A company in Boston will match what he raises.
