MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. -

A would-be bank robber left empty-handed after second-guessing his decision to commit the crime, police said.

The call for an attempted robbery came in just after noon Tuesday from the Citizens Bank at 4950 Kutztown Rd. in Muhlenberg Township.

The man entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money and stating that he didn't want to hurt anyone, said police, adding that the teller then asked the would-be robber, "Are you sure you want to do this?"

The man then turned around and left the bank without taking any money, police said.

The would-be robber was described as a white man in his early to mid-20s with short blonde hair. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. He was wearing black shorts and a blue shirt with the word "Hollister" on the front.

Anyone with information about the attempted holdup is asked to call Muhlenberg detectives at 610-929-5454 or Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for an anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.
