Man found guilty of aggravated assault in party stabbing

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man accused of attempted homicide in a double stabbing at a party last year was convicted of a lesser charge Thursday.

Tony-Ray Arvelo, 25, of 618 Chew Street in Allentown, was accused of stabbing Angel Rodriguez and Rodriguez's wife at a party in the 500 block of Ontario Street in Bethlehem on Feb. 13, 2013.

He was charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

A jury convicted Arvelo on one count of aggravated assault.

Arvelo's attorney, Vivian Zumas, told 69News that Tony acted in self-defense when Rodriguez attacked him.

Arvelo will be sentenced within the next 30 days.
