Man caught shoplifting meat and beer in back pack, police say

HANOVER TWP., Pa. -

A man was nabbed after he tried to shoplift beer and meat in a back pack, officials said.

Thomas J. Sestak was stopped by store security after he walked out of the Wegmans store at 5000 Wegmans Drive, Hanover Township, Northampton Co., around 2:10 p.m. Sunday with a six-pack of Corona beer and various meats he had hidden in a back pack, officials said.

The value of the merchandise was $177.36, officials noted.

Sestak, 28, of 110 Wilden Drive, Palmer Township, Northampton Co., was arraigned on a retail theft charge and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 17.
