LEHIGH TOWNSHIP, Pa. -

A man sent a woman to the hospital after she tried to get him to stop throwing crockery in their kitchen, officials said.

David J. Maskornick shoved Mary Maskornick into a counter after she put her hand on his shoulder while he was throwing dishes in the kitchen of their mobile home along Gap View Road in Lehigh Township, Northampton Co., around 9:05 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

Mary Maskornick told police that before the attack, she went into the kitchen to put her cereal bowl in the sink and look for her mouthwash cup when David Maskornick, who had been in the living room drinking, came in and started throwing dishes, officials said.

Mary Maskornick was taken to the hospital with a scrape on her left elbow and back pain, officials said.

David Maskornick told police he shoved Mary Maskornick only after she yelled at and shoved him first, officials said.

David Maskornick, 62, was arraigned on assault and harassment charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $2,500, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Sept. 12.
