Life Lessons: Scary movie theater treats
A tub of movie theater popcorn contains 17 cups of popcorn. That's five times the recommended serving size.
But the size of the munchies is just the beginning of the badness, when it comes to what we eat while we watch a movie.
There are a lot of things to be scared of when it comes to the food we devour at the movie theater-and it's not just the cost.
One of the worst: the Icee.
A large brain freeze is packed with 358 calories and 90 grams of sugar. That adds up to 22 teaspoons of sugar.
Even worse is a simple plain soda. Most of these contain almost 700 calories, which is more than a dozen Oreo cookies.
A relatively new treat are Cookie Dough Bites. Eat one box of these and you'd have to pedal the stationary bike for about an hour and a half to get rid of the calories.
Are you still sweet on Sweet Tarts? Go right ahead, but we should warn you it's the same as shoveling 34 teaspoons of sugar into your mouth.
If you've ever heard that Junior Mints are the lowest calorie candy, think again.
The box at the concession stand contains 579 calories and 107 grams of sugar.
That adds up two and a half days' worth of sugar and twice as much saturated fat than a large order of french fries.
