DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -

A man convicted in the shotgun killing of a popular musician will spend the rest of his life in prison.

A Bucks County jury convicted Breon Powell, 22, of Trenton, N.J., of first degree murder in the December 2011 killing of Danny DeGennaro, 56, of Levittown, during a botched home invasion robbery.

The jury recommended a life-without-parole sentence instead of the death penalty. A judge Monday followed that recommendation in sentencing Powell.

Prosecutors said when DeGennaro refused to cooperate with the robbers, Powell shot him.

Jermaine Jackson, 21, of Trenton also got a life sentence after being convicted of hatching the fatal plan.

Kazair Gist, 19, of Trenton was convicted with Powell and will be sentenced next week.
