Lehigh Valley residents prepare for wintry weather
Residents of the Lehigh Valley got off to an early start for the third round of wintry weather in about a week's time.
One of the most sought after items included ice melt.
"I just want to buy it now. We went earlier in the week and everyone was sold out," said Chris Liddick, an Upper Saucon Township resident.
Liddick walked away from Madle's Ace Hardware in Upper Saucon Township on Friday with four bags of ice melt. The store sold out completely before closing.
"Winter is coming and people are trying to rush and get ready for it because it didn't happen last year, and they are getting salt because they haven't used it in a few years," said Marissa Butz, office manager at Madle's Ace Hardware.
Drivers didn't waste any time preparing either.
"Last year during that October snow storm where we lost power for a long time…I had challenges getting diesel fuel so I want to make sure I have diesel in the car," said Billy Echols, an Easton resident.
The Wawa on Lehigh Street in Allentown was flooded with drivers looking to top off their tanks before the flurries start.
"I am getting gas before I go to work tomorrow…if I make it," said Colleen Ohl, an Allentown resident.
Karen Doney of Emmaus took care of fueling up the car and stocking the fridge.
"I went to the grocery store, got milk, bread, all of the essentials I need," Doney said.
