A woman angry about an alleged insult beat another woman in front of a crowd of people in the middle of a roadway, officials said.
Lydia Rosado repeatedly hit Heather Bednar in the face, head and neck in front of Bednar's home in the 600 block of Williams Street in Bethlehem at 2 p.m. Sunday, as a crowd of people looked on, officials said.
Bednar said she had received text messages from Rosado saying Rosado needed to speak to her, officials said.
When Bednar left her home to talk to Rosado, who was standing in the roadway with a group of people, Rosado told her, "You been telling people I'm a whore," and began swinging, officials said.
After police arrested Rosado, she was overheard telling Bednar, "This ain't over yet," officials noted, adding that Bednar said she suffers from seizures and now fears for her and her child's safety.
Rosado, 26, of 601 Aaron St., Bethlehem, was arraigned early Wednesday morning on charges of simple and aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and reckless endangerment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $30,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 11
