A woman slapped and bit her husband after he tried to prevent her from taking their young daughter on a shopping trip, officials said.

Adrienne N. Wachter assaulted her husband when he tried to remove their 19-month-old child from a car seat in the back of a mini-van parked at their home in the 300 block of South Broad Street in Nazareth, Northampton Co., around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Wachter hit her husband in the forehead and on both sides of his face and bit him on the right wrist, "leaving deep teeth impressions," officials said.

The altercation started when Wachter's husband objected to the child going to Boscov's department store with her mother, instead of staying at home with him, officials said.

Adrienne Wachter, 29, was arraigned on charges of endangering the welfare of children, assault and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $10,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Oct. 2.
