An Allentown woman charged with killing her 15-month-old son is headed to trial after a judge rejected a third plea deal Friday.
A judge had previously rejected Essence James' original plea deal but accepted one in March.
The 34-year-old woman pleaded guilty to third degree murder for the death of her son, Cordero James, but the judge said she did not take responsibility for the crime.
Officials say James brutally beat and killed her son in March of 2013.
Police originally arrested her boyfriend Michael James...but officials say he claims his girlfriend was the one who killed her son.
The trial is scheduled to start June 2.
