A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect following a water main break in Bangor.
Officials say the water main break happened early Saturday morning at Broadway and South Main streets, impacting 1,800 water customers in Bangor and the Ackermanville section of Washington Township.
As of 8 a.m. Saturday, service had been restored to the impacted water customers, according to a representative of the Pennsylvania American Water Company.
A news release from the water company says it is possible the water system has become temporarily contaminated. As a result, the company says water should be boiled for at lease one minute before drinking.
The water company will inform customers when the boil water advisory is lifted.
