Walnutport man's get-rich-quick scheme backfires

A 23-year-old Lehigh County man was an unwelcome patron at a Northampton County store where he tried his luck by attempting to get away with stolen lottery tickets.

Police said on July 13, at about 3 p.m. William P. Paukovits III made three separate attempts to steal lottery tickets from Square One Market at 468 Nor Bath Boulevard in Allen Township.

According to police, Paukovits reached over the counter three times while the clerk was distracted and stole approximately five lottery tickets for a total value of $80.

Paukovits is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
