Used car dealer Troy Wible charged with theft

A Berks County used car dealership owner is facing several criminal charges of theft and deception.

According to a news release from the Berks County District Attorney's office, detectives began investigating suspected unlawful activities in June 2013 at Second Chance Auto Sales, located at 2301 Lancaster Pike in Shillington.

During a six-month investigation, investigators learned that the dealership owner, 49-year-old Troy Eugene Wible of the 500 block of Pintail Lane in Birdsboro, had conducted illegal activities dating back to December of 2012.


Those activities included selling vehicles on consignment without reimbursing the original owner, taking money from customers for titles and transfers without submitting the proper paperwork to PennDOT,and defrauding business owners and lenders from money owed to them, officials said.

A total of 61 private customers, four business associates and two lending companies were affected by these actions by Wible, officials said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Wible on Oct. 25.

He is charged with theft by deception, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, forgery, deceptive or fraudulent business practices, defrauding secured creditors, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities and illegal transfer of ownership.

Wible turned himself in to authorities on Thursday. Bail was set at $100,000.
