A man and a woman were arrested after selling heroin to a police informant outside a convenience store, officials said.

Joshua C. Haney and Gina Alvarado were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon as they were getting into their car after coming out of a convenience store at 3820 Easton Nazareth Highway, Lower Nazareth Township, Northampton County, officials said.

Just before, the two were involved in a heroin transaction in the store parking lot at 3:20 p.m., officials said.

A police informant gave Haney $180 for the heroin while Haney's black Volkswagen Jetta was parked at the store's gas pumps, and Haney handed over 20 packets of the drug while Alvarado counted the money, officials said.

Police found another 50 packets of heroin in the car's center console, as well as the $180 the informant gave Haney, and another $1,121 in cash inside the car, according to officials.

Haney, 29, of the 100 block of South 15th Street in Easton, was arraigned Tuesday night. Alvarado, 32, of the 600 block of Laufer Street Bethlehem, was arraigned early Wednesday morning.

Both were committed to the Northampton County Prison, Haney on $100,000 bail and Alvarado on $50,000 bail, court papers show.

A preliminary hearing is set for both at 10 a.m. Dec. 16.
