Truck drivers are going to have to change their routes as a bridge project gets underway in Northampton County.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced truck restrictions Wednesday will take place once a multi-faceted bridge rehabilitation project starts next week.
Oversized vehicles and permit loads will be barred from using the Route 22 Easton-Phillipsburg toll bridge starting Monday.
Once the project starts, travel on the toll bridge and nearby portions of Route 22 will be reduced to single lanes in each direction for much of the next 18 months: mid-June to mid-December and from March to December 2014.
Truckers are being encouraged to use Interstate 78 as an alternative, to avoid anticipated congestion and delays during the project.
