The Southern Lehigh School District Board of Directors took the show on the road and the show didn't show up.

Only four of the school district's nine directors managed to make their way to the board room of the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute on Monday night where the board meeting was being held and devoid of a quorum, the meeting was postponed, with all items on the agenda moved forward until the directors' next board meeting two weeks from Monday, according to Jeffrey Dimmig, president of the board.

Perhaps the top item scheduled for Monday night's meeting was a decision pending the Southern Lehigh Education Association's Contractual Matrix for the 2013-2014 school year.

In addition the board was expected to vote whether or not to approve 12 Saturday detention proctors at a rate of $40.09 per hour.

While the meeting did not take place a workshop meeting did occur where reports from various district principals and Superintendent Leah Christman were disseminated.

Christman noted the district had met with various Pennsylvania legislators to discuss various funding challenges faced by the district. The lion's share of the discussion centered around challenges regarding special education funding. A lesser extent of the talks with lawmakers involved the challenges of funding charter schools.

The next meeting is scheduled back on familiar turf at 7:30 p.m. in the Southern Lehigh High School board room.
