Police: Emmaus pumpkin thief turns slasher

EMMAUS, Pa. -

It's a scene right out of a slasher movie.

Police said a man stole two pumpkins from an Emmaus yard, and then slashed the owner who tried to reclaim them.

The incident happened Tuesday around 7 p.m.

According to court documents, Jared Frost of 518 Seem Street told police he heard someone upstairs in his house, then saw that 54-year-old Brian Golderer had gone out the back door was was in Frost's backyard.

Frost told police he was familiar with Golderer,and noticed that the man had taken some pumpkins from the garden in the back of the yard.

As Golderer was loading the pumpkins into a vehicle, Frost approached him, police said, and Golderer slashed at Frost's abdomen.

Frost told police he had a cut in his shirt and a laceration to his abdomen.

Golderer, of 14 S. Fourth Street, Emmaus, was charged with harassment and recklessly endangering another person.
