A Bethlehem man is facing charges after police said he sold prescription drugs.

According to police documents, Ryan McKelvey, 21, of the 5800 block of Shows Road sold 28 klonopin pills on the 3300 block of Schoenersville Road on August 9.

Klonopin is a schedule IV controlled substance used to treat anxiety.

A man called the Northampton Borough Police Department stating he could buy klonopin from McKelvey, police said.

The man contacted McKelvey via cellphone and ordered 30 pills of klonopin for $40, police said.  Police escorted the man to the scene on Schoenersville Road after providing him $40 to purchase the prescription pills.

McKelvey approached the driver's side window of the man's car and handed him a sandwich bag, police said.  They witnessed the transaction 25 feet from the scene.

Police later arranged a meeting with the man where he handed a sandwich bag of yellow pills to police, they said. The man was searched for money and drugs. He was cleared and then released.

Police transported the pills to the Northampton Police Department where they were later identified as clonazepam, a generic form of klonopin. Authorities only found 28 pills in the bag.

Police met with the man again where the man contacted McKelvey again via cellphone.

McKelvey replied "'My bad, I'll make it up to you next time."

Ryan McKelvey is currently incarcerated in the Northampton County Prison with bail set at $10,000 on the charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility.
