Pivitec wins Ben Franklin Venture Idol

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

It was a cross between Shark Tank and American Idol, but with entrepreneurs and investors instead of vocalists and celebrities.

A local audio company walked away with the top prize.

Pivitec LLC won the first 'crowdfunding' event Thursday night, hosted by the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania in Bethlehem.

Around 22 attended the Ben Franklin Venture Idol, which emphasized a significant way in which early-stage entrepreneurs seek and obtain seed money.

Ten company candidates competing were::

Bison Analytics, LLC, Lewisburg; Cerora Inc., Bethlehem; eVendor Check, Hawley; GiveGab, Dunmore;  Map Decisions, LLC,  Bethlehem; Orbweaver Sourcing LLC, Center Valley; Pivitec, LLC, Bethlehem; PROVA Systems, LLC, Carbondale; and Skaffl, LLC, Allentown.

Ben Franklin TechVentures is an award-winning technology incubators located on the mountaintop campus of Lehigh University.
