People give back unused drugs

Folks in the area could unload expired, unused and unwanted meds at the seventh National Drug Take Back Day.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Folks in the area  unloaded expired, unused and unwanted meds at the seventh National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.

Seventeen sites were set up in Lehigh County to collect the prescription medications.

Organizers said it's an effort to prevent abuse, misuse and theft of the drugs.

Last year, more than 1,500 pounds of pills were collected in the county.

Nationwide the three-year-old program had disposed of nearly 3 million pounds.
