HELLERTOWN, Pa. -

The bomb squad has cleared a scene in Hellertown where multiple buildings had to be evacuated.

Emergency crews evacuaed residents from a handful of buildings, officials confirm.

Reports indicate the Bethlehem Hazardous Device Unit (bomb squad) was called to Hellertown around 9:15pm Wednesday night.  Reports indicated a bag with a blinking light inside it was found out front of a building.

The bomb squad sent its robot to check out the item, a 69 News crew on scene witnessed.

It was later determined to be a speaker for an mp3 player or an iPhone, Hellertown Police said.

Roads were closed in the area of Main Street, Saucon Street and Front Street.  Fire and EMS crews are staging at Front and Saucon streets.

Evacuees were taken to the Dewey Fire House, reports indicated.
