Moore Township holds the line on taxes again in 2014

Moore Township residents will again escape a tax increase next year, township treasurer, Richard Gable said Tuesday night.

The proposed budget, which is about $3.4 million, keeps the tax rate at 3 mills, Gable said. There are no cuts in the budget.

Gable said taxes were not increased because of the township’s policy of “watching our spending and using our money wisely.”

Township supervisors are expected to approve the budget when the supervisors meet at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Gable said the last time the township raised taxes was in 2011.

In other action, the supervisors modified the township’s outdoor burning ordinance.

Under the old ordinance, residents were permitted to burn material within 5-feet of a structure. Under the new law, the distance is changed to 25 feet from a structure.
