Man who works at pharmaceutical recycling company charged with DUI and drug possession, police say
A worker at a pharmaceutical recycling company was found with a case of beer, marijuana and four bags of prescription pills in his car after a traffic stop, officials said.
Brian J. Jenkins was pulled over in the 600 block of Ramblewood Lane, Freemansburg, Northampton Co., for driving erratically in his 2005 silver Hyundai Accent at about 10:15 p.m. Friday, officials said.
Jenkins' eyes were glassy, and police detected an odor of alcohol and burnt marijuana and saw a case of beer in the back seat, they added.
Jenkins admitted he and his passenger, Robert Stankovics, had smoked pot and that there was marijuana on the back seat floor that spilled out of a bowl that he tried to hide in a pocket behind the passenger seat, officials said.
After Jenkins was arrested for DUI, police found a small cellophane bag with four pills in his glove box, which Jenkins claimed were Stankovics', officials said.
Police also discovered in Jenkins' trunk a grocery store bag with four smaller bags of assorted pills, officials noted.
Stankovics told police he had taken a morphine pill and that he bought the pills in the glove box from Jenkins, officials said.
Stankovics claimed Jenkins gets the pills at the pharmaceutical recycling company where he works, officials said, adding that Stankovics claimed he saw Jenkins sell pills to other people on various occasions.
Jenkins later admitted to police he supplies his friends with pills and claimed he gets them from his employer, Daniels Sharpsmart Inc., 925 Conroy Place, Forks Township, Northampton Co., officials said.
The pills found in Jenkins' glove box were two acetaminophen and oxycodone tablets and two oxycodone tablets, officials said.
The pills found in Jenkins' trunk were: 29 morphine sulfate tablets of varying doses; 28 acetaminophen and codeine tablets; 14 acetaminophen and oxycodone tablets; six oxycodone tablets; six acetaminophen and hydrocodone tablets, and five hydromorphone tablets, they said.
Jenkins, 21, of 209 Highlands Boulevard, Easton, was arraigned early Saturday morning on four drug charges, DUI and a traffic charge and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $30,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 27.
