A man has drawn the interest of law enforcement authorities after cashing five bad checks written on his mother's credit union account two months ago, officials said.

Randy R. Ross cashed the checks totaling $1,225 at the National Penn Bank branch at 301 Town Center Boulevard, Forks Township, Northampton Co., between May 19 and May 29, officials said.

The checks were issued from a Lehigh Valley Credit Union account with insufficient funds that bore the name of Ross' mother, officials noted.

A National Penn Bank official reported the bad checks to police on July 18, officials said.

Randy Ross, 37, of 594 Pardee St., Easton, was arraigned Tuesday night on a summary bad check charge and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $8,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 2.
