BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

A man kicked and slapped his girlfriend, threatened her with a knife and hit her with a baseball bat over a four-day period, officials said.

Nakhiem N. Battle assaulted his girlfriend, starting on Thursday at a department store in Lehigh County and continued until Sunday in their home in the 700 block of East 5th Street in Bethlehem, when she finally called the police, officials said.

Battle kicked his girlfriend Thursday while they were shopping at a Walmart store in Whitehall, and that sparked an argument that lasted for the rest of the day, officials said.

At 2 a.m. Friday, Battle became jealous and tried to stab the woman with a steak knife, officials said.

Battle then grabbed a baseball bat and hit her on the back of the neck, her right leg near her calf muscle and on her back, and slapped her on the face hard enough to leave a hand print, officials said.

On Sunday, Battle brandished a knife and said he was going to put his girlfriend "six feet under," officials said.

Battle's mother and aunt told police they witnessed the Sunday altercation, officials noted.

Battle, 25, was charged with aggravated and simple assault, making terroristic threats and harassment and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Dec. 17.
