NEW YORK -

A Lehigh University grad will be leading the parade Monday in New York City.

Joseph Perella, class of 1964, has been named grand marshal of the 69th annual Columbus Day Parade, which will be televised on WFMZ-TV Channel 69, starting at noon.

The noon newscast will air at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Perella is a current Lehigh University trustee, and he and his wife, Amy M. Perella, have made major gifts to the university over the past years.

In 2003, the Perellas donated to the College of Business and Economics, creating the Perella Department of Finance. The donation established four Joseph R. Perella and Amy M. Perella Chairs, further enabling the unviersity to attract top-tier academics to its faculty.

The couple also established a scholarship fund for Lehigh students from the Newark, New Jersey area, where Perella grew up.

They've also contributed to the construction of the Rauch Business Center and the Caruso Wrestling Complex.

Perella is a founding partner, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Perella Weinberg Partners.

According to the Perella Weinberg Partners' website, the company is a global, independent advisory and asset management firm with approximately $10.1 billion of commitments from institutional and private investors around the world.
