A landlord with an alleged drug problem collected more than the rent from two of his tenants, officials said.
Todd E. Shreck stole prescription drugs from tenants in two apartments he owns in the unit block of West Main Street in Pen Argyl, Northmpton Co., officials said.
One of the tenants filed a report with police on May 27 saying Schreck broke into her apartment and took her medications, and she told police about the second tenant who had prescription drugs taken from his residence by Schreck, officials said.
The other tenant told police Schreck had taken the drugs from a box in the back of his home, and that Schreck was a frequent visitor to his apartment, officials added.
The female tenant said she spoke with Schreck's wife before calling police and was told that Schreck has "an ongoing drug abuse problem," officials said.
Schreck told police on June 14 that he had used narcotics for two months before stealing the drugs, and that it was difficult to "stay clean," officials said.
Schreck, 36, of 104 West Third St., Wind Gap, was arraigned on burglary and criminal trespass charges and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 8.
