A man accused in connection with a double homicide in Allentown will now spend decades behind bars.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

John Jermaine Boyd was sentenced to 40 to 80 years in prison on homicide charges in Lehigh County Court Tuesday.

In December 2011, Boyd and a teenager, Tykweis Wade, shot and killed Steven Santiago and Adrian Ramirez in front of their home on South Hall Street in the city.

Police said a dispute over an affair led to the shooting. Both Boyd and Wade pulled out guns and started shooting, according to police, who quickly caught them only a block and a half away.

Boyd was sentenced by Judge James T. Anthony

The defendant entered guilty pleas to charges of murder of the third degree on Jan. 15.

Wade pleaded guilty in May.
