A second man sought in connection with an attack on a pedestrian in Northampton County last month is now behind bars.

Jeremy Smith Jr. was arraigned early Monday on eight charges stemming from his role in the robbery and assault on John Lynch in the 1900 block of Washington Boulevard in Wilson on June 17, while Lynch was walking home, officials said.

After the attack, a bloodied Lynch showed up at police headquarters and explained he was beaten and robbed after buying about $67 worth of merchandise, including cigarettes and tea bags, from a local store.

A juvenile witness identified Smith and Damitry Laws as the culprits.

Laws, 18, of 1918 Freemansburg Ave., Wilson, was jailed on robbery and assault charges a few days after the attack.

Smith, 18, of 1534 Spruce St., Wilson, is facing four counts of robbery and one count each of theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and assault, and was committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 9.

Smith was also arraigned on a charge of flight to avoid apprehension for running away from an officer who had stopped a car Smith was driving in the 1400 block of Northampton Street in Easton around 8:20 p.m. April 11, officials said.

Smith was driving the car without its headlights on.

Police discovered a bench warrant had been issued for Smith for violating his probation in March.

Bail was set at $5,000 in that case.
