Hellertown man throws furniture at girlfriend

Christopher Jon Gable of Hellertown has been arrested for throwing furniture at his girlfriend on Christmas Eve, then trying to run away from police.
The 48-year-old is charged with simple assault and resisting arrest.
The incident happened at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday
Hellertown Police were called to the apartment in response to a complaint of a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman.
The met with the female victim, who was crying and very upset. Furniture was tipped over in the living room and a glass table was shattered.
The victim said she invited Gable, her boyfriend, to her home for Christmas but they got into an argument. She said he broke the glass table and overturned furniture, throwing it at her.
Gable fled the apartment just before police arrived. The found him attempting to hide between a home and business in the 900 block of Main Street. When a police officer moved to take Gable into custody, he charged at the officer, pulled away and ran, initiating a foot pursuit.
Gable was arraigned at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.
He is in Northampton County Prison. Bail was set at $20,000.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Jan. 3 before Magisterial District Judge David W. Tidd of Bethlehem.
