NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -

The Fresh Air Fund still needs host families in the Lehigh Valley this summer.

The fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency, provides free summer vacations to thousands of New York City children annually.

Volunteer host families share up to two weeks with New York City children, ages six to 18.

More than 80 Lehigh Valley families already have agreed to host children this summer, but more are needed.

Since 1877, more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income communities have benefited from free summer experiences outside the city.

Last year, over 4,000 boys and girls visited the homes of volunteer host families in rural, suburban and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.

For more information about participating, visit the Fresh Air Fund's website.
