Freer may get plea deal

EASTON, Pa. -

A Northampton County man accused of running a Ponzi scheme may be able to avoid a trial.

A trial was set to begin Monday for Richard Freer but instead attorneys and a judge met behind closed doors to discuss a possible plea deal.

Police say Freer stole $10 million from more than 80 people over a course of four years.

Officials say Freer has been working with investigators and they have been able to recover $50,000 so far.
