Police say a West Bethlehem resident was attacked by a fox in the vicinity of W. Market Street and Central Blvd early Saturday morning.

The man was able to escape the scene and call the authorities. Bethlehem Police responded to the scene and located the animal; however they were unsuccessful in their attempt to put down the fox.

Just hours later, the Bethlehem Police received another call about a fox-related incident in the area of the Oak Hollow Apartments.

Officials said a man had been bitten by a fox while walking his dog. He was able to escape the area and transport himself to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg where he received treatment.

Bethlehem Police Officers and an Animal Control officer responded to the designated area in attempts to locate the vicious fox.

Once on the scene, Officers observed a fox begin to bit and attack one of their police vehicles.

Animal Control proceeded to put down the fox due to its aggressive behavior. The fox was transported to the PA department of Health where it will be tested for diseases.
