Some elementary school kids in Bethlehem may get an extra day of summer vacation.

According to Bethlehem Area School District officials, staff at Farmersville Elementary School found suspected mold on hard surfaces in classrooms ini one section of the school.

Facilities department members are working on a cleaning and remediation plan, officials said. After remediation, an independent certified industrial hygenist will take air samples to ensure that the affected rooms have acceptable air quality levels.

The kindergarten orientation scheduled for Thursday night has been postponed.

School officials said because of the number of rooms that need to be cleaned and ready for students, the school may not be open for students on the scheduled first day of class Monday.

Parents can find more information about the first day of school as well as the rescheduled kindergarten orientation on the school website Friday evening as well as via parent-link.

The school is located at 7036 William Penn Hwy, Bethlehem Twp.
