Motorists on Route 22 at the Easton-Phillipsburg Toll Bridge will encounter traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes in both directions beginning at 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Traffic will be stopped in both the eastbound and westbound directions, warn spokesmen for the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
Workers will be fixing a problem pothole area on the Broad Street Viaduct, the approach bridge between the toll plaza in Phillipsburg and the main bridge over the Delaware River.
A section of heaved pavement originally was confined to the eastbound side of the highway but has widened into the westbound lane as well. Hot-mixed asphalt will be applied as a temporary repair.
Eventually that roadway will be completely replaced as part of the rehabilitation project being done on the bridge and its Route 22 approaches by the bridge commission.
