Fire damages Lower Macungie townhouse

Fire crews worked to put out flames at a home in Lehigh County Tuesday night.

Crews were called out to a townhome at 1203 Tee Court in Lower Macungie Township around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses say smoke could be seen pouring out of the front door.

Lower Macungie Fire Chief David Nosal said all residents were safely evacuated, and Lehigh Valley CART pet rescue treated one dog and two cats at the scene. One cat remains unaccounted for.

One home was badly damaged in the fire, and two adjoining homes sustained minor smoke damage and some carbon monoxide was detected.

Nosal said the fire appears to have started in the kitchen, but the cause remains under investigation.

There were no injuries reported.

The Red Cross is assisting two families who were displaced by the fire. The first family -- two adults and three children -- were provided lodging and food.

The second family -- two adults and two children -- received food, clothing, shoes, and lodging.
