A woman is in trouble with the law after twice biting her brother who was giving her a ride in his car because she was too drunk to drive, officials said.
Kristi Lutes bit her brother Kevin Lutes' right forearm and then his nose and punched him in the arm, nose and eye while they were in his car in the area North and West boulevards in Bethlehem around midnight Saturday, officials said.
Kevin Lutes told police the altercation began when he asked his sister to stop hitting the shifter of his black 2006 Jeep Wrangler after he picked her up because she was too drunk to drive, officials said.
Kristi Lutes then punched her brother in the arm and tried to climb into the driver's seat with him, and when he pushed her away she bit his forearm, officials said.
Kristi Lutes also bit her brother in the nose and punched him in the eye when he pulled over his vehicle, and they both fell to the ground when he opened his door, officials added.
Police separately interviewed Kevin Lutes and his girlfriend, who was in the Jeep at the time of the fight, at Kevin and Kristi's home at 1516 Levering Place, Bethlehem, after finding Kristi Lutes swaying unsteadily near a sidewalk about a half-mile away with a swollen lower lip and slurring her speech, officials said.
Kristi Lutes, 34, was arraigned on charges of assault, harassment and public drunkenness and released on $2,500 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. July 23.
