A Lehigh County community is pitching in to help dozens of people affected by a devastating fire at an apartment complex late last week.
The fire broke out Friday at the Helfrich Springs Apartments on Mickley Road in Whitehall Township, damaging 23 units in two different buildings, officials said.
Residents who were not affected are collecting donations of food, clothing, toiletries, bedding and kitchen items to help more than 50 people that have been displaced.
Donations will be accepted between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the complex clubhouse.
The Red Cross has also stepped in to provide help to some of the residents, and others are being put up in vacant units at the complex.
