Helfrich Springs donations

WHITEHALL, Pa. -

Donations are pouring in for dozens of people in Lehigh County who were driven from their homes by fire.

A donation drive was held tonight at the Helfrich Springs apartment complex on Mickley Road in Whitehall Township.

On Friday, fire tore through two buildings, damaging 23 apartments.

Organizers say some of the families were left with nothing.

Organizer Wendy Bretz said, "I know for one, there's one family.. they actually had just lost both of their jobs so they cut their tenant insurance in order to save money. So they have absolutely nothing. So it's wonderful to see all the donations that are coming in for that family and for all of the other families that are definitely hurting right now."

Donations included clothes, food, toiletries and children's toys.

Organizers say they're amazed by how much stuff has come in.
