Crash closes part of Cedar Crest Boulevard in South Whitehall

1 sent to hospital after crash

SOUTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. -

A  two-vehicle accident forced officials to close part of Cedar Crest Boulevard in Lehigh County Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. at Iron Bridge Road, south of Parkland High School, in South Whitehall Township.

It involved a southbound Acura and a northbound tractor-trailer.

The tractor-trailer hit the Acura,  pushing it into a guardrail, according to South Whitehall police.

The female driving the car had to be extricated by the fire department and was transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township.

Officials have not released information about the extent of the woman's injuries.

The road reopened several hours later.

South Whitehall police are investigating the crash. Any witnesses are encouraged to call them at 610-398-0337.
