On Tuesday, Boy Scouts in Lehigh County honored veterans and the American flag.
Boy Scout Troop 57 held its annual "Ashes To Graves Ceremony" at the cemetery of Neffs Union United Church of Christ, North Whitehall Twp.
During the ceremony, the ashes of retired American flags were placed on the graves of veterans.
Troop leaders said the ceremony provides the Scouts with a respectful way to dispose of worn-out American flags while at the same time paying tribute to late veterans.
"I think by doing something like this it gives them a little bit of the history and how our fathers and forefathers have sacrificed to keep the country free," said scoutmaster Sam Raub.
This is the fifth year in a row the ceremony has been held.
