Animals rescued from Allentown fire
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

The victims of a fire in Allentown last month won't be able to take all their dogs with them when they return home.

Sixteen dogs, including nine new-born puppies, plus two cats and a rabbit were rescued during the July 24 fire at a home in the 800 block of North Kiowa Street in the city.

When the fire damage is repaired and the property owners return to the home, they will not be allowed to have more than four dogs on the premises, based on city regulations, said Allentown spokesman Mike Moore.

Moore said there are other locations in the city where the owners, known as hobby breeders, could operate, but the Kiowa Street address is not one of them.

The owner of the home is John Moyer, according to court records.

The owners breed German Shepherds.

Several of the puppies already had been sold before the fire occurred, but were not yet weaned from their mother.
