It may still be cold outside.. but baseball season is right around the corner.
Tickets went on sale in Reading and for the IronPigs in Allentown on Saturday.
This year features lots of big changes for both these teams.
The population at Baseballtown in Reading swelled. Fans packed in to finally get their hands on tickets.
"The best time of the year -- baseball season. Nothing like it," said fan Don Shuey of Lebanon.
Fans are also snatching up the swag. This year Reading has a new mascot and a new name -- the Fightin Phils.
"It's a new feel for the team, because they've been called the Reading Phillies since the 1950s," Mike Constantine of Pottsville said.
It's a move the team hopes leads to a winning season at the gift shop.
"Makes you feel a little bit warmer when you pick up the baseball tickets," Shuey said.
In the Lehigh Valley, fans camped in the cold at Coca-Cola Park for "National Pig Day."
"I got here at 3:30 this morning," said Kyle Grube of Easton.
"About 4:00," said Jeffrey Sterner of Allentown
"About 20 after 4," added Paul Magargal of Allentown.
"We've had fans as early as midnight in years past," said IronPigs General Manager Kurt Landes.
The park has 2 new sections this year -- the Bacon Strip and the Hot Corner.
"Opening game, I like to get every year," Grube said. "I like to get good seats for opening game," he added.
"I got to make sure I get the bobbleheads," Magargal said. "I've collected every single bobblehead since the start of the Iron Pigs," he added.
But the hot ticket is the Triple A National Championship Game in September.
"We'll be the first organization to have hosted both the AAA National Championship Game and the AAA All-Star Game, and this is only in 6 years of existence for the Iron Pigs," Landes said.
Baseball season starts in a month.
The IronPigs have led the league in attendance for the past 3 years.
