A man stole jewelry from his girlfriend's mother on the day she kicked him out of her home because of his drug problem, officials said.
Shane J. Thiel was paid $300 at a pawn shop for four chains, two bracelets and a pair of earrings he took from the home of Teresa Kassick, 114 North Warren St., Easton, on Tuesday, officials said.
Kassick called police on Wednesday, and said Thiel had been living with her and her daughter until the day before, when she told him to leave because of his drug abuse, officials said.
Thiel admitted to taking the jewelry and pawning it when he was found at his new address, 11 North 4th St., Easton, officials said.
Thiel, 32, was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $15,000 bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. March 8.
