The Salisbury School Board recognized the retirement of Dr. Louise A. Beauchemin at the start of its meeting on Wednesday night. Beauchemin has been the acting superintendent for the district since the passing of Salisbury Superintendent Bob Gross earlier this year.

Beauchemin has been involved in the public education system for over 30 years and has been employed by Salisbury School District for 13 of those years. She began her career at Salisbury in 1999 after being hired at the principal at Harry S. Truman Elementary, where she met some of her fellow School Board Members like Board Member Mary Ziegler.

“Thank you for your passion and thank you for being there for our kids,” commented Ziegler as she recounted some of her early memories of working with Beauchemin at some Harry S. Truman events and fundraisers.

In 2004, Beauchemin was appointed as Assistant Superintendent of the school district that she has previously stated has been the highlight of her career. She took on the position of Superintendent in May of this year when Gross was hospitalized after suffering an aneurysm. Beauchemin had planned on retiring this month prior to her change in position.

The board appointed Allentown resident Michael Q. Roth to replace Beauchemin at a special board meeting last week. Roth will serve a five-year term as superintendent effective November 1st through June of 2017.
