BANGOR, Pa. -

A man was arrested for swinging a knife in the direction of two women two weeks ago, officials said.

Thomas P. Sullivan chased a juvenile woman around a property in the 100 block of Messinger Street in Bangor, Northampton Co., and swung a knife at her and her friend, also a juvenile, at about 10 a.m. Oct. 23, officials said.

Sullivan cornered the friend against a fence and kept swinging the knife at her, despite being asked to stop by both young women, officials said, adding that the friend was reduced to tears.

The women were able to escape when the property owner came out of his house and told Sullivan and the two women to stop screaming and yelling, officials said.

Sullivan, 19, of 122 Messinger St., Bangor, was arraigned Tuesday night on charges of disorderly conduct and stalking with intent to cause emotional distress and committed to the Northampton County Prison on $20,000 bail, according to court documents.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12.
