A man is facing charges after slamming his wife's head into the steering wheel of his truck while they were out riding with her two children, officials said.
Joshua J. Erney was arrested after the attacking Christina M. Bohning Erney at 8:50 p.m. Friday while he was driving on South 25th Street in Palmer Twp., Northampton Co., officials said.
Christina Erney said she and her husband were arguing when she tried to get out of their truck and her husband slammed on the brakes, grabbed her by the hair and twice slammed her face against the steering wheel, officials said.
Joshua Erney fled on foot on Freemansburg Avenue after stopping the truck on Milford Street, they added.
Christina Erney was taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts underneath her right eye and chin, as well as bruising and swelling of her left temple, officials said.
Joshua Erney, 32, of 1011 George St., Easton, was arraigned on Sunday on charges of assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, careless driving and driving with a suspended license and released on $20,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Nov. 9.
